On September 1st, 2015 Central Finland proclaimed itself the Sauna Region of the World. The aim of such an action is to develop the region’s brand around one of the most essential parts of the tourism and industrial operations of Central Finland.

There is a strong basis for the title to be carried on, since Central Finland has a large variety of tourist destinations, which offer diverse sauna experiences – from sauna yoga sessions to traditional smoke sauna sessions. In addition to that, the largest smoke sauna in the world (Tupaswilla’s Mahtisauna) and the one and only Sauna Village (Jämsä) in Finland are located in the region.

Having united own efforts in promoting the region, both tourist organisations and companies within the sauna manufacturing sector are eager to open up to all the guests this essential aspect of the Finnish culture – sauna.
