NEW SAUNAS OPENED AT SAUNA VILLAGE, JUOKSLAHTI, JÄMSÄ
The restoration of the sauna village’s smoke saunas is continuing, and in honour of the Central Finland Sauna Region Week, more smoke saunas are being opened in the sauna village for bathers to use. Due to the opening of the new saunas, the Löylynhenki sauna will move to the new sauna. The large Virpiö smoke sauna will also be lit. Mixed saunas. Please bring your own sauna gear. Jämsä has the world’s only sauna village. The sauna village was opened in Muurame in 1983 and then moved to Juokslahti, Jämsä, on the shores of Lake Päijänne. The sauna village has over 20 historic saunas from all over Finland. The oldest is from the 18th century. The 20+ smoke saunas in the village were restored in 2015–2020. Some are now in museum preservation. We look forward to welcoming you at the Jämsä Sauna Village!
